To know The Heart Institute is to know our esteemed Medical Director and prominent cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Joseph McGinn. As one of the top cardiac surgeons in all of New York, Dr. McGinn proudly pioneered and developed the advanced surgical procedure known as minimally invasive cardiac surgery/coronary artery bypass grafting, or MICS CABG. Often called “The McGinn Technique,” as Dr. McGinn not only pioneered and perfected this advanced technique but he’s performed more MICS CABG procedures than any other physician in the world with superior results. His outstanding record has made Dr. McGinn recognized and respected among his peers worldwide. In addition to performing every MICS CABG at The Heart Institute, Dr. McGinn teaches the technique to physicians from around the world.
